All About Us
The Philosophy of
Pinelands School of Practical Nursing and Allied Health Inc. is
consistent with the beliefs of the Administration and Faculty in its
commitment to meet the needs of the community.
We the
Administration and Faculty believe that each individual is a complex
being who is constantly interacting with the internal and external
environment to meet basic human needs. Furthermore, we support
a philosophy that is 'wholistic' in nature. A 'wholistic'
approach addresses the totality of the individual's physical,
psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and economic needs.
Organizing Framework
The Curriculum is
organized on Maslow's Theory of Basic Human Needs and Erickson's
Theory of Growth and Development. These theoretical concepts
are integrated and threaded through the entire nursing program.
Specifically, the
faculty subscribes to the following organizing structure:
-
Needs vary
throughout the growth and development continuum.
-
Unmet needs,
whether actual or potential, result in an alteration of health or
illness.
-
The student
practical nurse will utilize the nursing process to address these
alterations of health or illness within his/her scope of practice
-
The student
practical nurse will collaborate with the members of the health care
team particularly with the registered nurse in order to deliver a
'wholistic' care.
